Tickets Giveaway : The Late Late Troll Show

The Bulmer’s Comedy Festival is starting in 2 days, and we have a pair of tickets to The Late Late Troll Show to giveaway.

The Toll Trolls, M and 50, are based, well, underneath the M50 toll bridge but for a change, they’re going to entertain the crowd at the Olympia. It’s going to be madness and off-the-wall comedy, with special appearances by the 98 Morning Crew, including Dermot Whelan from RTE’s “The Panel”!

Here’s a clip of the Toll Trolls, having a chat with the former Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern.

And another, talking about the movie “I Love You, Man”.

Little Wings, Free tickets!

Thanks to the wonderful folk at Foggynotions, we’ve got 2 double passes to give away for “Little Wings” who is playing Upstairs @ Whelan’s, Wed August 13.

Little Wings is the project of artist and musician Kyle Field. Having worked with stars like M.Ward and Devendra Banhart, Kyle Field released his 7th album last year: Soft Pow’r. His music can be described as lo-fi folk and his latest work has a raw yet slumbering feel like what a grizzly bear might listen to when he’s feeling moody. He’s not unlike the popular Bon Iver and comes with a big thumbs up from us.

to be in with a chance to win tickets, just leave a comment here or send me an email at mytop5blog *AT* gmail.com

Dublin events (free and non-free)

Hi Dublin!

This is gonna be my first post, and already i’m going to do some advertising just to get it over with. It’s good advertising though as it’s two ways to find out about events in Dublin.

The first is a link to a website with a lot of non-free events a around town. As far as I know it is updated every day. the link is: http://forum.electricpicnic.ie/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=14 . It is pretty good to have a website to check out every day around 4 or 5 to see where the crowds will be that night.

The other thing I’d like to mention is a way to  receive a list of free events in dublin. It is sent out by a guy called Joerg. He is doing it on a fully voluntatliy basis. All you have to do is send a request to be put on the list to: dublineventguide@gmail.com .

That’s it for my first post on Dublin Metblogs. Hope you enjoy my posts now and in the future,

Hans

Damon & Naomi, Free Tix!

Thanks to great people at Forever Presents we have a great indie band coming up and 2 double passes for you to go!

Damon & Naomi, Whelans, Wednesday 25 June.

How do you describe Damon & Naomi? Dream-pop, indie-folk, lo-fi? They’re just really good. Not flashy or extravagant. There are no grab-you-and-shake-you-by-the-collar melodies or riffs. Their music is delicate, intricate and atmospheric. A great band and a great price at 16euro.

To be in the draw for A FREE DOUBLE PASS. Leave a comment below (you’ll have to sign up but don’t worry we don’t send out anything) or email me at mytop5blog at gmail.com

The Lineup

MATMOS Featuring: J Lesser & special guests: SI SCHROEDER
Californian duo Matmos have done it all, from lecturing at Harvard on sound art to playing for homeless teenagers. They’ve scored the soundtracks for five gay porn films, one pinball machine, and one NASCAR television commercial. Screw Bono singing from a roof, these guys are the real deal when it comes to innovation.

June 13. Andrew’s Lane Theatre. 8pm
LOW & special guests: ATLAS SOUND + THE HOLY ROMAN ARMY – followed by DJ DAVID KITT
Low’s minimalist, slow music helped a whole genre know known as “slowcore”. However their skills in creating atmosphere and mood are not just limited to their own brand of music as they have been known to do crazy covers of more popular artists. Support includes the excellent Atlas Sound who released the critically acclaimed “Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See but Cannot Feel” this year.
Listen: Low, Breaker

June 14. Vicar Street. 7pm
DAN DEACON * JAPE * DEERHUNTER*WHITE WILLIAMS * HIGH PLACES
This is the big one and we’ve got tickets for you! This show is an incredible one-off opportunity to catch five of the most exciting new artists in the world on the same bill. The one man carnival-of-fun Dan Deacon makes his third visit to Dublin. If that wasn’t enough, Deerhunter bring their mish mash of ambient punk noise rock to the bill and somehow Jape, White Williams and High Places are squished into what promises to be an amazing night.
