		<description>Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness  met with new Fianna Fáil leader and incoming Taoiseach Brian Cowen in Belfast yesterday.  Speaking in advance of the meeting Mr McGuinness said: “Brian Cowen is obviously not a stranger to the political process in the north, having previously served as Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Speaking of the North:

Peter Robinson has been chosen to succeed Ian Paisley as leader of the DUP.  By all accounts so far, he will be pragmatic and somewhat cool toward Sinn Féin, but the power sharing agreement will go. One of Robinson&#039;s first duties as elected leader of the DUP will be to meet Brian Cowen, on May 7 after Bertie Ahern stands down.</description>
