Osaka as the 4th most expensive? That’s so hard to believe since I’m back home for the summer and Im definitely finding it SO MUCH CHEAPER than Dublin…Hmmmm…I guess part of it must be the cost of land because then it will totally make sense….

I’m currently flat hunting and I can assure you as far as rental prices are concerned, Dublin is neck and neck with New York City (and it’s actually more expensive when you convert from $$).

And chinese food is A LOT cheaper in NYC too.

I just got back from Madrid. It’s so much cheaper than Dublin. The metro is so efficient and good and only costs one Euro each way unlike Dublin Bus which totally sucks and costs almost twice as much. The luas doesn’t go anywhere and DART…whatever. Anyways Dublin is ridiculous.

saying dublin is ridiculous wud be harsh.. its a great city.. thou’ the expensiveness of it does make it harder for people to feel the real dublin.. and esp. when comparing to other cities.. a few weeks ago.. another reader asked me to write about comparing Munich (as i lived there 3 years) (or NY, its more exp.. & still feels more comfortable than here) and dublin.. but its just not fair to any of cities.. so i never did.. sure u liked madrid more :) .. cheers .. enjoy dublin

ummm I don’t mean that Dublin is ridiculous as a city but I certainly mean that it is ridiculous in terms of how expensive it is and what you get for your money. As another reader correclty pointed out that rents are more expensive than New York, that’s pretty ridiculous. A cup of coffee, cars, electronics, and various other things are even more expensive here than London. I understand the real estate market is booming but give me a break as I don’t really understand why everything else is so expensive and neither do a lot of other Dubliners. Remember Rip-Off Republic on RTE…

thats very true indeed.. i was just telling my colleague same, that a coffee cup cost more here than in london .. n the list goes on..
i knw.. thats why.. living in NY is expensive but still its feels lot more comfortable in other basic needs of life.. (excluding the night clubs n drinks ;-)) ..
myself haven’t been here for long enough to evaluate all pros n cons.. but surely.. things bit less expensive wud make them easier for all :))
